Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI) is arranging a series of bi-weekly webinars to share and discuss the latest research works being conducted in key domains relevant to AI and its applications, including (but not limited to) Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Intelligent Systems, Smart City and Urban Planning, Smart Agriculture, Intelligent Biomedical Applications, and Neurocomputing. The webinar is scheduled to be conducted every alternative Thursday (at 12:00 PM PKT, GMT+5).

Abstract: Retinal Degenerative Diseases (RDD) are among the leading causes of blindness in adult population worldwide. It involves gradual and irreversible degeneration of retinal cells. Unfortunately, to-date, there is no significant cure possible for RDD that can reverse the damage. Therefore, focus of medical and research community is on rehabilitation, during which patients learn how to use their residual vision. The focus of this talk is to introduce presenter’s previous work in the field of RDD rehabilitation and discuss new ideas about how AI can help in formulating better rehabilitation training for individuals suffering from RDD.

Presenter’s Biography

  • Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Robotics: Cognitive Robotics, Interaction and Rehabilitation Technologies from University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy and Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Genoa, Italy.
  • Postdoc Fellow at Sino-Pakistan Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI), Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST)
