PAK-IAST had got approval for establishing the Sino-Pak Center of Artificial Intelligence from Public Sector Development funds. The core objective of the center to build national capacity to carry out R&D in the emerging field of artificial intelligence by producing expertise through MS/PhD programs in collaboration with Chinese and Austrian universities. To solve local problems using AI and market them through the technology park. Provide high-value shared services to industrial partners. Develop an advanced workforce in AI and Data Science through training and applied work. Help in creating ecosystem for startups and spin-off companies to make Islamabad an IT hub for software companies/businesses. To lead other Pakistani universities, institutes, and industries into the era of artificial intelligence by managing and sharing the infrastructure and trained human resource.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a comprehensive and integrated infrastructural based project and is a major part of the China’s One Belt One Road (OBOR) global initiative. Railway is one of the most important means of transportation, especially the freight transportation, since long. Construction work on $8 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s project of Pakistan Railways - up-gradation of Main Line, ML-1- is likely to start this year. PAF-IAST planned to establish center of excellence in Railway Engineering as the location of the institute is situated on the line of ML-1 route. The core areas will be Signaling, and Communication Engineering.
The Nanotechnology Center for Socio Economic Development (NCSED) proposes to become the leading hub of innovation, scientific research, knowledge transfer to local researchers, and training in the area of high-resolution imaging and spectroscopic techniques for in-depth analysis and understanding of new and emerging (nano) materials.
The main objective of the center is to develop and upgrade the facilities for characterization and evaluation of (nano) materials and devices, which will become the hub of major research, development and commercialization activities in Pakistan. This center objectives will be closely related to the priority areas of the Higher Education Commission, S&T Sector and Ministry of Science & Technology, Pakistan.
