Bachelor of Science in Robotics

Program Description

Bachelor of Science in Robotics is being offered in collaboration with Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), Germany. As per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between PAF-IAST and THWS, a split-degree program will be offered to the selected students. The students enrolled in the split-degree program shall be required to meet the entry requirements of THWS, Germany. Therefore, after completing one year of study at PAF-IAST, they will continue their studies at THWS, Germany. These students will be awarded the degree by THWS, Germany. The remaining students will continue their studies at PAF-IAST and will be awarded Bachelor of Science in Robotics by PAF-IAST. The curriculum of this bachelor program is designed by THWS, Germany together with experts from various robotics companies and hence meets the industrial needs. The curriculum by THWS has been adopted by PAF-IAST, while it has been tailored to meet the requirements of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

Robotics is an innovative and rapidly growing field of technology. Today, robots can be found in many areas of industry and everyday life and their importance is steadily growing over time. Since their introduction in the second half of the 20th century, robots have been transformed into sophisticated and highly complex systems. Driven by the digitization of production i.e., Industry 4.0 and recent progress in artificial intelligence (AI), there is a growing need for robots. The global Service Robotics Market is set to gain traction from the increasing adoption of these robots in a wide range of sectors, such as agriculture, defence, logistics, and healthcare worldwide. According to a recent report, the service robotics market size was USD 12.88 Billion in 2019 and is projected to reach USD 41.49 Billion by 2027, exhibiting a CAGR of 15.9% during the forecast period. The growing need for robots and the increasing complexity of robotic systems is fuelling a high and long-term demand for academically qualified robotics experts. The design and implementation of robots and robotics systems requires a sound academic education. Moreover, various companies are desperately looking for robotics engineers and experienced personnel to develop and integrate applied and intelligent robotic systems.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The graduates of the BS Robotics program of the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Haripur are expected to achieve following capabilities after three to four years of graduation.  

  1. Develop modern robotic systems and be capable of improving their knowledge and adapting to new technologies and tools as the field evolves. 
  2. Investigate and innovate systems for societal needs in different domains, while observing work ethics. 
  3. Possess management and interpersonal skills, enabling them to take on entrepreneurial ventures and manage projects harmoniously with professionals of other disciplines.

The Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) of the BS Robotics program are as follows: 

  • Professional Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Fundamentals of their area of specialization to the solutions of real-world problems.
