Humaira Ayub, a geneticist; is working on the discovery of the abrasions in the DNA and subsequent pathological molecular mechanisms of complex neurodegenerative eye disorders and cancers. She earned her PhD degree (2015) in Biosciences from COMSATS University Islamabad and her thesis was titled “Genetic Study of Multifactorial Eye Disorders in Pakistan”. She carried out a fragment of her PhD research work as a guest researcher at the Department of Human Genetics and Department of Ophthalmology, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands (2011 and 2013). After the accomplishment of PhD, she was inducted as an Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, where she taught courses like Immunology, Human Molecular Genetics, Health Biotechnology, etc. Presently, she is employed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. She is mainly engaged in the study of the genetic basis of Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, the involvement of non-coding RNA in the eye and other Cancers. She has published nearly 19 research papers with an accumulative impact factor of 100 in well reputed international journals. She has supervised several research students.
