Dr. Asif Khan received his B. Sc. in Mining Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan. He graduated with distinction and was awarded University Gold Medal for excellent academic performance. In 2008, he secured a fully funded scholarship by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for MS leading to PhD studies. He completed his MS in Computational Engineering from Ruhr University Bochum Germany and PhD in Mining Engineering from RWTH Aachen Germany. In 2016, he joined the Department of Mining Engineering, UET Peshawar as Assistant Professor under IPFP program of HEC. From April 2017 to November 2020, he served at the Department of Mining Engineering, Karakorum International University, Gilgit as Assistant Professor. Since November 2020 he is working as Assistant Professor at Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Haripur. His research interest is in mine planning and design optimization while considering uncertainty in the input parameters, Application of Artificial Intelligence techniques in mine planning and optimal cut-off grade strategy in open pit mines. He has authored several papers in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
