PhD in Computer Science – Admission Opportunity (Non-Funded)

The School of Computing Sciences at Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST), Haripur, is pleased to invite applications for Non-Funded PhD positions in Computer Science. This opportunity is ideal for motivated candidates interested in advancing research and innovation in emerging areas of computing.

Research Areas (Preferred):
Applicants with research experience in the following domains will be given preference:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Explainable AI (XAI)
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Machine Learning
• Deep Learning
• Digital Health

Eligibility Criteria:

• MS degree (18 years of education) in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews in AI, particularly in healthcare applications
• Collect, preprocess, and analyze datasets
• Develop and fine-tune machine learning and deep learning models
• Collaborate with researchers, domain experts, and stakeholders
• Prepare research papers, technical reports, and presentations
• Assist Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in research activities

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) or equivalent programming expertise
• Hands-on experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation
• Understanding of domain-specific data (preferably healthcare) and ethical considerations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
