Pakistan has rich inventory of huge reserves of industrial rocks and minerals including gemstones, besides large reserves of precious metals and coal. Despite our rich mineral resources, the mining, mineral and metal processing industry is primitive or in the infancy stage. It is due to lack of political will and strategy to scientifically explore, exploit and process minerals by modern machinery, and trained technical manpower to manufacture the value-added products. The development of domestic mining and
processing industry will help increasing the economic activity and expanding industrial base in the country. It will also result in promoting exports of manufactured products, and curbing imports of those items which can be produced by mineral raw materials available in the country.
The government of Pakistan has taken a good step for the promotion of mineral sector by recently conducting Technology Foresight exercise involving mineral experts from all over the country. In line with PCST initiative for development of country’s mineral based industry, the International Conference on Mineral and Ore Processing is being held in Haripur on March 7-8, 2023. It will be followed by Post Conference Field visit on 9th March, 2023.
This international event will provide a platform for academia, geoscientists, engineers, policy makers, and regulators to share their research and technological expertise. A large number of local and foreign participants from multidisciplinary fields of the mineral sector will present their papers, and contribute to preparing a policy document for submitting to concerned Government ministries in the country.

The Accommodation in Haripur is available in University Guest House for local and foreign delegates @ Rs. 1500 to 2000 per night. Rs. 2500 to 3500 in local 2 Star Hotels.
Haripur weather is moderate in the month of March with temperature ranging between 10 to 20 ℃.
Post conference Field excursion will also be arranged on March 9, 2023 to mining quarry and a processing unit surrounding Haripur & Abbottabad
