Biography

Born and raised in the mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, Dr. Fazli Wahid has built a remarkable career as a biotechnologist, biomedical scientist, and innovator driven by a deep commitment to improve human health through science. With more than 15 years of teaching and research experience, he has inspired countless students and researchers to pursue excellence in biomedical innovation.
Dr. Wahid earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, and currently serves as Associate Professor at PAF-IAST, alongside being a Fulbright Fellow and affiliated researcher at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation, Los Angeles, USA. His research bridges biomaterials, nanomedicine, tissue engineering, and artificial organ technologies, with a special focus on developing 3D bioprinted artificial skin and therapeutic biomaterials for wound healing and regenerative medicine.
He leads one of Pakistan largest biomedical research projects, “Development of Artificial Skin and Tissue Substitutes Based on 3D Bioprinted Advanced Materials” (PKR 46.5 million, funded by DGST & Industry). His work has resulted in over 70 publications in top international journals (impact factor >270, citations >5,800, h-index 30), 7 book chapters, 2 patents, and the successful supervision of more than 15 graduate students.
Beyond the lab, Dr. Wahid is a passionate entrepreneur and innovator, committed to translating research into real-world healthcare solutions. He is the founder of BioprntX Pvt. Ltd. and co-founder of Radiant Aura Pvt. Ltd., startups dedicated to advancing biomedical materials and skincare technologies.
In recognition of his contributions, he has been honored with the “Pride of Pakistan” award and ranked by the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) among the top 25 young scientists under 40 and top 125 biological and biomedical scientists in the country. His journey reflects a lifelong belief that science, when guided by compassion and purpose, can transform lives.
