Dr. Kashif Bashir

Assistant Professor

Biography

Dr. Kashif Bashir is a Pharmacist by profession and has work experience in pharmaceutical industry, research (nationally and internationally) as well as academia. He is engaged with research for more than 10 years working on various aspects of medicinal plants. His major areas of expertise are tandem mass spectrometry based metabolomics, chemical profiling, chromatographic isolation techniques (column chromatography, preparative TLC, analytical HPLC, semi-preparative HPLC and preparative HPLC) for natural products. He has also expertise in structure elucidation of natural products using various spectroscopic (NMR, FT-IR, UV) and spectrophotometric techniques (mass spectrometry). He also worked as visiting scholar at University of California, Santa Cruz, USA in the lab of Prof. Phillip Crews, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry from December 2019 to Feb 2021. During his stay at University of California, Santa Cruz he worked on advanced chromatographic, spectroscopic techniques and cutting edge techniques in natural products metabolomics using Global Natural Products Social (GNPS) Molecular Networking.
