Biography

Sohail Khan received the BS Electronics Engineering and MS Electrical Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He obtained PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Vienna, Austria in 2016. He worked as Scientist at Austrian Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2021. There, he obtained 8 years of experience of working on European and international projects while working at Austrian institute of technology, Vienna, Austria, Sohail Khan excels in providing analytical solutions to power system planning and operational challenges, particularly towards integration of renewable energy sources in the grid. Sohail Khan also has 5 years of teaching experience while working at various universities in Pakistan including currently at Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI), Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology.

He is currently having a central role in establishing the SPCAI with the support of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan and in collaboration with Austrian and Chinese universities. He is in process of establishing 10 research labs at SPCAI, supervising graduate programs and R&D activities at the Center. He is leading Intelligent Energy Infrastructure group at SPCAI, Central energy lab at PAF-IAST and supervision of High-Performance Computing cluster. He is professional member of IEEE and reviewer of multiple high impact journals.
