Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST), through its Center for Mineral Resources Engineering, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afridi Minerals to promote environmentally sustainable mining practices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of senior officials from the Directorate General of Science & Technology (DoST), KP, and KP Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT).
This collaboration focuses on the development and adoption of Liquid Oxygen (LOX) as a safe and eco-friendly alternative to conventional explosives in mining operations. As part of the agreement, approximately 5,000 mine workers will receive specialized training in LOX handling, operation, and maintenance — enhancing workforce skills and improving employment prospects across Pakistan and abroad.
