The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP), Islamabad, conducted a Mid-Term Review Visit at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST), on 14 January 2026. The visit was aimed at reviewing academic standards, infrastructure, and overall progress of the department in line with national pharmacy education requirements.

The visiting delegation comprised distinguished professionals from leading institutions, including Prof. Dr. Noor Jahan, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi; Dr. Kashif Maqbool, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, UVAS Lahore; and Mr. Jabbar Magsi from the Health Department, Balochistan.
The team was warmly received by the Rector, Dr. Mohammad Mujahid, along with Dr. Sharif Ullah, Dean FCAAD, and Prof. Dr. Azhar Hussain, Chairman, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. During the welcome session, the Rector highlighted the university’s vision, commitment to academic excellence, and focus on applied sciences. Prof. Dr. Azhar Hussain introduced the department’s academic structure, teaching methodologies, and quality assurance mechanisms.
A comprehensive presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Azhar Hussain, showcasing the department’s academic progression, modern laboratory facilities, research environment, and existing infrastructure. The presentation emphasized PAF-IAST’s dedication to providing a strong foundation in pharmaceutical education aligned with international standards.
The visiting team also interacted with faculty members and students, observing classroom dynamics, laboratory practices, and student engagement. They toured various facilities across the campus, including laboratories and academic blocks, to assess the learning environment and available resources.
The delegation expressed their appreciation for the department’s well-established laboratory infrastructure, the quality of education being delivered, and the overall academic atmosphere at PAF-IAST. They commended the collective efforts of the faculty and administration in maintaining high educational standards and fostering a research-oriented environment.

As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, souvenirs were presented to each visiting member by the Rector, PAF-IAST. The visit concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by a meeting with the Rector, after which the visiting team departed.
This Mid-Term Review Visit reflects PAF-IAST’s continued commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical education and its alignment with the standards set by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, reinforcing the university’s role in producing competent and industry-ready pharmacy professionals.
