In today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, strong and structured collaboration between academia and industry is essential to drive innovation, develop future-ready talent, and address real-world challenges. Recognizing this critical need, Pak Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) successfully convened the inaugural meeting of its Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) on 8 January 2026, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s journey toward industry-integrated higher education.

Purpose and Vision of the Corporate Advisory Council

The Corporate Advisory Council has been established with the mission to bridge academia and industry by providing strategic guidance, aligning academic programs with evolving market and national needs, and fostering applied research, innovation, and commercialization. The Council envisions the development of a sustainable ecosystem where academia, industry, and entrepreneurs collaborate closely to drive national development, technological advancement, and global competitiveness.

Leadership and Strategic Direction

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, renowned scientist, former Federal Minister for Science & Technology, and Chairman Advisory Board, PAF-IAST. In his address, he emphasized the importance of engaging both national and international industry partners to collaboratively develop industry-relevant processes, products, and solutions, identifying such engagement as a key determinant of industrial and economic success.

Distinguished Participation from Industry and Public Leadership

The session brought together an eminent group of industrialists, entrepreneurs, technocrats, and policymakers, reflecting strong confidence in PAF-IAST’s vision. Participants included senior leadership from diverse sectors such as manufacturing, technology, healthcare, energy, and infrastructure.

The Council was further strengthened by the presence of distinguished national leaders, including former senior military and public officials, whose experience and insights added significant strategic depth to the discussions. In addition, several esteemed members joined the meeting online, contributing valuable perspectives drawn from national and international experience across diplomacy, energy, agriculture, and environmental governance.

During the meeting, the Rector, Dr. Mohammad Mujahid, briefed the Council on PAF-IAST’s progress and achievements over the past five years.
