Center of Excellence in Transportation / Railway Engineering

Center of Excellence in Transportation / Railway Engineering

The Center of Excellence in Transportation/Railwav Engineering has been established in collaboration with the renowned Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), Beijing, Peoples Republic of China. A “Memorandum of Agreement” has already been sign between the two institutions in October 2020; wherein the two universities have agreed to cooperate with each other by fostering academic linkages, exploring joint research projects, exchanging teaching faculty and research staff and to work on joint degree programs.

The Center of Excellence in Transportation / Railway Engineering (COETRE) has already initiated work on a three pronged strategy, targeting education, knowledge and academics through degree programs; skill development and capacity building through training programs; and research and development through viable research projects, in collaboration with the transport industry.

The MS Degree Programs in Transportation Systems Engineering & Railway Systems Engineering is being offered by the Center of Excellence in Transportation/Railway Engineering, at Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. The objective of the master’s degree Program is to impart knowledge and skills to MS graduates, who are desirous of acquiring an understanding of the intricacies of a multidisciplinary field like road, railways, air, pipelines, and marine engineering. The goal of the MS Degree program is to develop our students’ analytic, quantitative, and communication skills so that graduates are well-prepared to face the exciting and challenging transportation environment of today and tomorrow. The strong quantitative focus of our program will provide students with skills for analyzing all modes of transportation used for the movement of people and goods, within and between cities, under both public and private operations.

Vision

To lead the transportation sector by driving innovation, advancing research, and fostering collaboration on a sustainable basis to address techno-industrial demands and socio-economic challenges in transportation.

Mission

To foster world-class professionals and researchers in the field of transportation, having aptitude to solve real life challenges and lead in multiple transportation modes (road, railway, air, maritime and pipelines). These transport sector experts would be able to contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe transportation systems, driving economic growth and improving the quality of life across the region. The Center aims to develop skilled graduates adept at driving innovation and excellence in the evolving transportation landscape, foster industry collaborations, and contribute to sustainable transportation solutions that meet the current and future needs of the transport sector in Pakistan and the region.

We Offer

Facilities

The department provides a variety of facilities to students, faculty, and researchers to work in an innovation-friendly environment.

Objectives

Develop Multimodal Transportation Experts

To develop professionals with in-depth competence and knowledge of systems engineering and understanding of the financial and managerial dynamics of multimodal transportation systems, i.e., railways, airways, highways, sea transport, and pipelines.

Foster Research and Innovation

To enhance students’ research, creativity, and innovation skills by encouraging them to undertake research projects that apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-life, on-ground contemporary problems.

Promote Practical, Hands-on Learning

To ensure an enabling environment for students to take up projects during their respective academic courses for instilling practical and hands-on experience in their learning.
